Land Rover India has silently launched the diesel-powered Defender at Rs 94.36 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s new powertrain is a 3.0-litre diesel engine making up to 300PS of power and 650Nm of torque. Paired to a sole 8-speed automatic gearbox, it drives all four wheels of the SUV. The Defender 90 goes from 0-100kmph in 6.7 seconds, while the Defender 110 hits the 100kmph mark in 7 seconds.

The diesel-powered Defender is available in four variants: SE, HSE, X-Dynamic and X. It can be specced with both, 90 (3-door) and 110 (5-seater) configurations. The feature list remains similar to its petrol counterpart.

Land Rover offers the diesel variants of the Defender 90 from Rs 94.36 lakh to Rs 1.08 crore, and the Defender 110 from Rs 97.03 lakh to Rs 1.08 crore (ex-showroom). It locks horns with the Jeep Wrangler.

The price of Land Rover Defender starts at Rs. 76.57 Lakh and goes upto Rs. To Be Announced. The price of petrol variant of Defender ranges between Rs. 76.57 Lakh to Rs. 99.90 Lakh. The prices of Defender diesel variants start at Rs. 97.66 Lakh and the top-end diesel is priced at Rs. 1.11 Crore. Land Rover Defender is available in 36 variants and 7 different colours.

Defender Specifications

Land Rover offers the Defender in three engine options: a 300PS/400Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder P300 petrol (P300), a 296HP/650Nm 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel (D300) as well as a 404PS/640Nm hybrid (P300e) variant, which comes paired with the P300 petrol engine, exclusive to the 110 model. Transmission options include a sole 8-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel drivetrain. Talking about speed, the diesel-powered Defender 90 goes from 0-100kmph in 6.7 seconds and the Defender 110 hits the 100kmph mark in 7 seconds. The hybrid Defender 110 runs from 0-100kmph in 5.6 seconds with top speed limited to 209kmph.The petrol variants do the 0-100kmph sprint in 8 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 191kmph.

The Defender is available in two configurations: 90 and 110, across five broad variants: SE, HSE, X-Dynamic, X and First Edition.

While all the variants and configurations can be specced with petrol and diesel engines, the hybrid powertrain is limited to the Defender 110.

Defender Features

Land Rover Defender features a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 14-speaker Meridian sound system, Pivi Pro connectivity, in-built navigation system, heated and cooled front seats, cruise control, ambient lighting, a head-up display, a three-zone climate control, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Safety is taken care of by electronic traction control, dynamic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system, cornering braking control, blind spot assist, adaptive cruise control, and rear pre-collision monitor. Land Rover additionally offers four customisation packs: Explorer, Adventure, Country and Urban.
